The kids have been wanting a new game system for a while and I was starting to see that having an Original Xbox was no longer working for us like it did at one time. So Ryan took a Friday off work to go do all of the shopping for us. (We didn’t want to have to take the kids along for such a big purchase.)
He got home and set it all up with the help of our beautiful princess S all while C was still in school for the day. I don’t get to do to many surprises for my kiddos and we thought that this was such a huge thing, especially for our big guy that a surprise was just what we needed!!! So we come to the whole question.. At what age should a child be allowed to have a cell phone and should it be an expense you pay for?

SOOO.. after a long talk with hubby we decided that our children will not have a cell phone until the time comes that they can work to pay for the monthly bill. I guess I feel like it’s a luxury that they don’t need. So Mom’s and Dad’s what do you think? What’s your cell phone policy?

My daughter on the other hand seems to be shy and has a very hard time with change. She doesn’t have a very easy time retaining information, be it little or small. That’s okay with me, it’s what makes her, her:)
However, now that she’s 4 will be 5 in April, I’m really starting to notice that public school might not be the best option for her. (She also has a problem with speech) I’m wondering if a different pace and or learning style might be better suited to her needs. So now I’m on a mission to learn as much about our options so that I can be as well informed as possible. I got really spoiled with my son. With my daughter it’s not going to be as easy going.. and that’s okay. I love that they are so different. I just hope that we make the right decisions for both of them!!!

Meet George:)

So some friends of mine are taking some vacation time in Europe. He has asked the other day on his blog if anyone had any suggestions of what they should take. The only thing I could come up with was baby wipes… ( I know.. it’s a mom thing) So I’m sitting here this morning still thinking and racking my brain when an idea worked it’s way into my thoughts:)

I’ve seen a new Lego phenomenon with George.. he can be made using spare Lego and he’s super cute. So then I thought wow. I could make George and send him over seas and see what kinds of pictures the boys can come up with. So I got out the Lego’s this morning and built George.. I glued him together and waited.

While waiting another idea struck me.. If I get pictures I can make this neat little scrap book of Georges European adventure.. and then I figured out that I could then turn that into a wonderful teaching tool. C can learn all about Europe:)

So the boys are on their way this afternoon. I’m hoping George sees some really neat places:) and I’m hoping that Caleb will enjoy joining in on George’s adventures in Europe!!! Thank You so much D!!! I can’t do it without you!!!

I do not belong to a church, nor do I belong to a specific religion. It’s not my style and frankly, I have yet to find a church/religion that doesn’t offend me in some way. (ie. gays are damned, heaven forbid you dance, drink or any other thing that could be entertaining, putting stock in the devil etc..)

I’m not perfect, I don’t claim to be perfect and because of that I try very hard to embrace everyone’s individual choice in their own beliefs. The only time I have a problem is when those beliefs cause undo harm to another person or to themselves.
Now that all that has been said, Can someone please tell me why So many insist that Christmas is only about Christ? Is it because his name is in the word?

To me, Christmas is a time of giving and a time to be with family, to share moments that you will remember throughout the year. It’s not about gifts or the religion that started the tradition. ( Which was originally a pagan holiday, like so many of our other holidays.)
I see so many people putting down others for using Holiday season instead of Christmas, or some other phrase to share well wishes with others. It’s hard for me because while I traditionally grew up in a home celebrating Christmas and I continue to celebrate Christmas with my children, I know not everyone does. So does that make them wrong? Does it make me wrong? Does it make everyone wrong?

 
I think what we need is a good dose of respect in this country, respect yourselves and respect others. Stop choosing who to respect based on what they believe and what/who they do in their own bedroom.
My mother taught me at a young age that you give everyone the respect you feel you would deserve in return until that person does something TO YOU, that causes you to lose respect for them. It was a great lesson.
I try very hard to live it every day. I don’t walk around judging people that don’t share my beliefs, or lack there of. It would be really nice to see that done in turn. We are not a perfect people but we should be a people unified in the idea that we can fit perfectly together:)

So now she’s gone and as of yesterday we still had our lingering fleas. We bombed last weekend and it seemed to have no ill effects on those pesky bugs. So by yesterday I was in tears and close to pulling my hair out. Enter Ryan… He comes to my rescue with new mattress covers for all of us as well as some spray on fogger (to make it easier to get under some of the low laying furniture we have). So we spend the afternoon vacuuming as spraying and covering the mattresses and removing the stuffed animals to sit in a bag for a couple of days. We’ve washed all the linens. We’ve cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more. As I sit her typing this… not a single flea bite this morning and that lets me know that all the time and money and hair pulling was worth it!! I’m so happy, I could shout from the roof:)

Now we can spend our time prepping for our early Thanksgiving with Ryan’s parents:) The kiddos and I can’t wait to see them. We’re working on menus and trying to find some fun craft ideas to do before they get here, and maybe some while they are here!! Life is good!!
